IMPORTANT NOTICE
COMMUNICATION REGARDING THE SUBMISSION OF BUILDING PLANS FOR MINOR BUILDING WORK ON THE LAND USE MANAGEMENT PORTAL
As part of eThekwini Municipality continually looking at ways to improve doing business with the City and moving towards becoming more efficient and effective on the processing of Building Plans and reducing the turnaround time, the Development Planning, Environment and Management Unit has changed the process for the submission of Minor Building Works as part of the PA Plans and Building Plans online.
In future, applicants will be able to select whether a PA Plan/Building Plan is a Minor Building Work, thus identifying the submission and allowing for the quicker processing of these types of applications, leaving more time to focus on the more complex cases.
Therefore, please be advised that from the first week in July 2024, the Land Use Management Online Submission Portal has been changed to allow for identifying a PA Plan Building Plan as a Minor Building Work submission. A list of Minor Building Work recognised by Council is attached and on the portal for ease of reference.
The change can be seen on the Online Application form, where a tick box for Minor Building Work (MBW) has been inserted below Building Use on the form.
By clicking on the Minor Building Works Information link, it will take you to the Minor Building Work Schedule. The MBW Schedule outlines all the criteria and types of Building Plans that can be submitted in terms of this Category.
An extract of what has changed on the PA Plan/Building Plan Application Form is highlighted in the blue box below.
Please note that only items on the attached MBW Schedule will be considered as Minor Building Works.
Any PA Plan submissions erroneously identified as MBW, will be refused. A new Submission for the usual PA Plan Clearance will then be required.
You can contact the Land Use Management Assistants or Principal Clerks in the different regions if further assistance is required in this regard.
